Why Did I Start Middle Class Hell?

There are only so many tomorrows. At some point today has to get better. I am a husband and father of two small children. Not to long ago, I woke up one day and realized that I might not be able to afford to give my wife and children the life they deserve. The great recession has hit all of us pretty hard, well, 99% of us anyway. So many bright futures were crushed when the recession hit. And for the first time, many of us will not be able to recover what we once had, many will not even be able to dream the dreams we once cherished.

Middle Class Hell Is Real

It is not only real for me, it is real for millions of Americans who are unable to achieve what was once the American Dream. The videos although somewhat comical, come from real pain that is suffered everyday by the forgotten middle class. You are watching my real family as we navigate through rough waters of American life. I simply carry a Flip camcorder with me and film whatever is happening. Sometimes it’s interesting, sometimes it’s not, but it’s real.

The Articles on the site are all written by me, they reflect my feelings and attitudes about the economy, politics, culture, etc. I do not hold back my opinions. I feel strongly about our country, our government and the direction it is taking. If I can’t express my honest feelings here, then where?

I don’t want to sit in a corner and cry about it all. I love to laugh. Wherever possible, I inject humor into my work. I hope you appreciate my sense of humor. It can be a little “blue”, but it’s honest.

I make NO MONEY from Middle Class Hell. I am an army of one right now. I write everything, edit everything, design the website, answer emails – This is a one man show. But I love it. I love it and I love hearing from people who love it. And when people tell me “it’s funny as shit”, well, that just makes my day. I even love hearing from people who hate it. Bring on the haters – If they are criticizing me, I am obviously doing something right.

Best,

Paolo (Paul) Romanacci

P.S. I have also begun blogging for the Huffington Post. This will hopefully allow me to express my feelings to a wider audience.

I just watched a few of your videos. They are funny but sad at the same time. I’m glad that you found an outlet for your frustration and it’s done well. Sometimes it’s a comfort to know that others are in the same situation but then again it can be heart breaking to know that so many Americans are in trouble. I was diagnosed with terminal Cancer about a year ago. With todays economy and our future in question, oddly enough I take comfort to know that I wont be around to suffer old age in some nursing home, probably at the mercy of Government handouts. I have even apologized to my three adult children that I brought them into such a screwed up world. You have very cute kids. Your wife and you are doing a good job of isolating them from some harsh realities that they will hopefully not have to go through as they get older. Best of luck to you and yours.

Robert,
You have broken my heart. I do not know and can not understand what you are going through. Your diagnosis is tragic, I am sorry. I feel silly complaining about my situation sometimes because I know there are people with much bigger problems – problems which make my troubles seem trivial. The comment you left was very powerful and I will not soon forget it. I hope you are finding peace in your circumstance – Frankly, I am at a loss for words right now – But maybe this short message conveys my sentiments. I hope you have many good days ahead.
Stay strong.
